Scanner portatile in grado di tradurre istantaneamente qualsiasi tipo di informazione cartacea (giornali, libri, brochure, riviste e documenti) in forma audio per rendere le persone non vedenti molto più indipendenti. Grazie a questa innovazione le persone ipovedenti possono acquisire informazioni da documenti che non sono stati tradotti in una forma accessibile come schede telefoniche, contratti, brochures, quotidiani e riviste.
Il Braille è il linguaggio più comune utilizzato dai non vedenti per leggere e scrivere ma ha degli aspetti negativi: leggere un testo in braille è molto meno immediato e veloce rispetto a una lettura silenziosa o da ascolto; inoltre i costi di produzione dei testi sono molto elevati e diventano inaccessibili per molti utenti.
Questo dispositivo è in grado di acquisire le informazioni scritte grazie alla tecnologia OCR (Optical character recognition), trasformare i segni riconosciuti in lettere e riprodurli con voce elettronica.
Per usare lo scanner è sufficiente accenderlo e collegare gli auricolari, posizionarlo sul documento scritto e premere un pulsante per avviare la scansione dei dati, una volta terminato il procedimento si può premere il pulsante play per ascoltare il testo.

Braille is the most common form of text that blind people can read and write on their own. However, there are some downsides to Braille. The speed of reading is considerably slower than silent reading or reading by listening. The production costs for Braille books are high, making them expensive and difficult to get for many people.
This device uses an optical character recognition (OCR) technology that scans typewritten text, translates it into machine-editable text and translate it into voice form.
To use the scanner, turn on the power, plug the earphones into the device, place it on the document to be scanned, press the scan button and when the process is finished press the play button to hear a voice read the printed text.
